"Extreme Couponing" the tv show by TLC, made it often seem so difficult to duplicate the kinds of savings you can obtain for common stores where these practices are done at such as Best Buy and Petsmart. However, todays' supermarket policies and less worthwhile coupons have made things much more challenging to get extreme savings.
There are two characteristics shared by a excellent coupon: Offering a discount on things people would buy anyway, as well as a savings big enough to commit your time in cutting them.

Individuals thought that this was excellent news and would be welcomed by store customers. However, the majority of shoppers have already been more inclined to visit dollar stores and Walmart simply because on top of price drops, the store also made the mistake of outlawing double couponing.
Best Buy and Petsmart have also been decreasing their coupon practices. Although it can be attributed to these stores moving their operations online with coupon sites like this for Best Buy coupons and another one that offers the same quality coupons but for Petsmart which all seem to be thriving. Both of these sites often have an endless supply of coupons that are updated daily with no sign of stopping.
Double coupons has been pulled from Texas and California from this store. Carl York, representative for the business, mentioned to Charleston (W.V.) Gazette not to be anticipating double coupons to turn their $1 off coupon instantly into a $2 off discount at check out. He states: "I believe that double coupons is one thing that is going to disappear eventually, The industry is moving away from that."
Regardless, customers created a Bring Back Doubles Facebook Webpage, and commentors have been comparing this move to JC Penney's choice to scale back on coupons and coupon codes.
This may perhaps be a tad extreme when first reading on this situation. The company does not absolutely reject printable coupons like how JC Penney basically did. Simply put the company halted coupons from being doubled in particular locations. CFO Michael Schlotman speaking at a conference not long ago, pointed out that a "very small number of customers actually engage in" double coupons, and it would be more reasonable to spread the promotions and savings across the board with price cuts.
“Now, they’re a very vocal part of your customer base, and they don’t like it when you stop giving them that reward,” Schlotman states. “But the percentage of customers who actually enjoyed the benefit of that, our view was we were better off taking those dollars and investing them in better prices for all of our customers rather than rewarding just a select segment of our customers.”
Kroger is not the only one either
Some store supervisors often will make life a tad more annoying by allowing just one coupon per transaction making it tedius for the "extreme couponer" and even the shop staff.
Coupon enthusiast, Jill Cataldo, says you simply can't blame the food markets for the ban of double couponing and some of the changes to their policy. Instead, they put the blame on the popular tv show "Extreme Couponing" by TLC which demonstrates how shoppers can buy hundreds of dollars of products with different coupon methods. The "Extreme Couponing effect" is the result as she blogs in her couponing column. Coupon worth started to fall when the show began broadcasting - "Manufacturers that previously offered $1 coupons now offer coupons good for $1 off on the purchase of two items" - and companies placed more restricted coupon guidelines.
